Greg has over 38 years’ experience with the NSW Police, he has been a Commander since 2001 attaining the rank of Detective Superintendent.  Greg has a wide and diverse operational and corporate background within the NSW Police.  His operational experience has seen him involved in a number of State significant operations as a Police Commander or Police Forward Commander.  These have included the 2000 Olympics, 2005 Macquarie Fields riots, 2005 Cronulla riots, 2007 APEC event, 2010 Australian USAR Task Force deployed to Japan following the tsunami and earthquake disaster just to name a few.  Greg has successfully lead the NSW Police Airwing purchasing aviation assets for the NSW Police and gaining a sound understanding of the aviation operating environment.

Greg has also successfully developed corporate governance and accountability systems to test the ongoing operational and corporate responses to key indicators and business drivers to ensure those that need to be held accountable for business results have access to centralised business data.  He has also developed an accountability forum to hold senior Commanders and business managers accountable for results against established and agreed upon business indicators.

As an experienced operational Commander and investigator Greg was appointed the Commander of the NSW Professional Standards Command to ensure the integrity of the NSW Police through a system of compliance to established Codes of Conduct.  He was appointed the Commissioner’s Delegate for resolving administrative investigations for non-compliance to expected standards and levels of professionalism.  Greg has conducted complex internal investigations, advised senior officers as to appropriate courses of action and represented the Commissioner at the NSW Industrial Relations Commission when dealing with individual administrative outcomes.  Greg has an extensive experience in dealing with oversight bodies, establishing systems and processes to comply with legislative requirements and reporting on outcomes.

Greg has been actively involved in developing corporate operational capability and capacity including Counter Terrorism, Public Order and Incident and Emergency Management.  Greg has been actively involved in testing and validating operational response through participating in operational exercises, developing operational exercises and as directing staff / evaluator on exercises.  This commitment has also extended into the national arena where Greg has been actively involved in national level CT exercises as a subject matter expert or evaluation manager.  He has been actively involved at a national level in delivering training in Command and Control for senior Police Commanders and other emergency response agencies.

Greg also has experience in road policing as the Commander of Metropolitan Traffic and HWP which saw him developing strategies and operations to reduce road trauma and serious road related crashes.  He has a wide exposure to stake holder engagement and working with key partners at a national and State level.

Greg has a number of higher academic qualifications including Masters in Public Policy, Bachelor Business (Public Administration) and other Graduate level qualifications.  He has studied overseas at the National Scottish Police College and has attained the Detective designation in NSW.
